How Zainab Jimada built a primary care practice where patients feel heard.
Zainab opened Beacon Hill Family Health to give patients primary care that is accessible, personalized, and built on real relationships, without the barriers of traditional healthcare. “There is something incredibly rewarding about building something of your own and having the freedom to shape how care is delivered,” she says.

Zainab Jimada has always been about the relationship.
Zainab Jimada is a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a board-certified family nurse practitioner. Her career spans primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, surgical nursing, and critical care, and she cares for patients at every stage of life, from children to older adults.
“As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I have always been passionate about building meaningful relationships with my patients,” she says. Her particular interests are preventive medicine, chronic disease management, women’s health, weight management, and health promotion.
Owning a practice pushed her outside her comfort zone, as a clinician and as an entrepreneur. She learned the business side of healthcare, from marketing and patient acquisition to day-to-day operations, and gained a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into keeping a practice running.

I wanted to create a practice where patients feel heard, valued, and empowered to take charge of their health.

Zainab wanted healthcare that is accessible, convenient, personalized, and truly patient-centered, without the barriers that often come with traditional settings.
Rushed appointments
Visits too short to explain a concern, ask a question, or understand the plan.
Feeling unheard
Patients who leave unsure anyone really listened to what they said.
Care that doesn’t fit real life
Appointments only during the hours when working patients can’t get away.
No lasting relationship
A different face every visit, and no one who knows your history or your goals.
Patients on the sidelines
Decisions made for patients, rather than with them.
She wanted patients to feel heard, valued, and empowered.

What care feels like with Zainab.
Patients describe what Zainab set out to give them: time, clear explanations, and a say in their own care.
I never felt rushed or overlooked during my appointments. Zainab took the time to listen to my concerns, explain everything clearly, and made me feel like an active part of my healthcare decisions.
Finding a primary care provider who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and easy to talk to made such a difference for me. I always leave my visits feeling informed, supported, and confident about my next steps.
From preventive care to managing my ongoing health concerns, I’ve always felt that my care is personalized to my needs.
What this means if you’re thinking about it.
Don’t wait until you have it all figured out.
“You will never feel completely ready, and there will always be something new to learn.”
Start with a clear vision.
Zainab knew the care she wanted to give: accessible, personalized, and built on relationships. Every choice about the practice followed from it.
Expect to learn the business side.
Marketing, patient acquisition, and daily operations are part of owning a practice. The learning curve is real, and so is the reward.
Surround yourself with people who can guide you.
You don’t have to know everything on day one. Lean on people who have done it before.
Build around your patients’ lives.
Virtual visits on evenings and Saturdays make care easier to reach for patients who can’t leave work mid-day.
Give yourself grace.
“Building a practice takes patience, persistence, and courage, and success doesn’t happen overnight.” When it gets uncertain, remember why you started.
“Don’t wait until you have everything figured out. Start with a clear vision, be willing to learn, surround yourself with people who can guide you, and give yourself grace along the way.”
